Precision CNC Milling for Industrial Sleeves

Custom sleeve components with accurate milled features

SleeveMFG provides CNC milling services for industrial sleeves that require more than standard turning operations. We machine keyways, radial holes, flats, slots, grooves, and complex profiles while maintaining their relationship to the sleeve bore and outer diameter.

Integrated manufacturing

Milling that stays aligned with precision turning

Sleeve components frequently transition from a CNC lathe to a machining center. Our facility uses multi-axis CNC milling to add functional features to turned sleeves while maintaining control over the geometric relationship between the internal bore, external surfaces, and milled details.

Coordinating these operations in-house helps support demanding designs where feature position, concentricity, and fit are critical to the finished assembly.

01

Keyway sleeves

Locking shaft components for power transmission assemblies.

02

Indexed sleeves

Precisely positioned radial holes for set screws, lubrication ports, or locking pins.

03

Flatted sleeves

Parallel or angled wrench flats and orientation surfaces for assembly and tool engagement.

04

Notched and slotted sleeves

Features for snap-ring retention, alignment, and application-specific interfaces.

CNC milling capabilities

Built for prototypes, repeat production, and complex sleeve geometries

Our vertical and horizontal machining centers support precision requirements across low-volume prototypes and mass production. Milling parameters, work-holding, and finishing cycles are selected according to the sleeve geometry and material.

Machining performance

  • Axis configuration: 3-axis and 4-axis indexing for circular hole patterns and radial features.
  • Positional accuracy: Milled features are controlled to ±0.02 mm or better, depending on geometry.
  • Feature complexity: Pockets, grooves, cross-holes, slots, and complex profiles on thin-wall and heavy-duty sleeves.
  • Surface finish: Optimized milling cycles to minimize burrs, with secondary deburring included in the finishing cycle.

Process selection

The right process for every sleeve feature

Not every sleeve feature requires CNC milling. Our team reviews customer drawings and models to determine the most efficient manufacturing path. Simple radial holes may be drilled on a lathe with live tooling, while complex slots or pockets require a milling center.

By analyzing your drawing or 3D model, we select the optimal process flow to minimize part handling and setup time, preserve critical dimensions such as bore concentricity, and reduce overall per-piece costs for production runs.

Quality assurance

Inspection focused on feature position and fit

Every milled feature is verified against the customer’s drawing to ensure conformance. Our inspection workflow addresses positional accuracy, profiles, bore and thread fit, and surface roughness.

Coordinate measuring machines

Complex positional measurements relative to the sleeve axis.

Profile projectors

Verification of slots, keyways, and external profiles.

Bore and thread gauges

Confirmation that secondary milling operations preserve fit tolerances.

Surface roughness testers

Checking finish requirements on critical surfaces.
